Re: CNC contact info

The neighborhood strays got after that one.....We tracked it a long ways and never jumped it but ended up running into those strays and my dogs nearly getting into a fight with them. They were eating on the other dead deer we found.....I figured they had already been running the deer we were lookin...

Re: CNC contact info

It wasn’t found. Cnc’s dog found another dead buck that some of the neighbors dogs had killed from what I heard. They trailed the deer a long way. Not sure what happened but there was a big piece of bone at the shot site. Looked like a rib. The father that leases the land killed a big 8 point yester...

That white one looks good. Not seen many that color.

You’ll probably have people in a bidding war for that one.

Marksmanscorner website

That mark marksmanscorner.com website that sells scopes has trijicon accupoints on sale right now for 691.00. They’re about 950.00 regular price.

I’m too broke to buy a Tasso but know people on here are always looking at scopes.

Seems like a good deal.

Re: Your Current and Best Hunting Rig Setup??

I got a tool box in my f150 and a Polaris 450 ho utility model won’t fit in the back of it. Your truck must be a long wheel base. I friggin hate loading and unloading a four wheeler to hunt. An ATV is nice to get deer out and put out feed. Best hunting truck I ever had was a 2004 4wd Ford Explorer. ...

Re: 2023/2024 Kill thread

I killed one this morning. 7 point. Weighed just over 170 pounds. First shot I’ve fired in 3 years. I’m still shocked I was able to drag the deer out and load it into the truck by myself without gutting it. That’s my proud accomplishment for the day. I still got some strength left in me.

Re: Bullet choice for deer?

Some store over in Clanton got some nosler partitions in 7/08 last week. I know 2 people that drove all the way over there to get 2 boxes each. They swear by those bullets , and said it was worth it to drive that far to get them. I’m trying out those new browning XLR in 308 this year. Maybe I’ll get...

Auburn will never be able to get enough talent and depth to beat Alabama or Georgia for at least 4 to 5 more years. With what Alabama and Georgia have on their rosters , even in a down year , they have better , faster , stronger, and quicker athletes than every team they play. Now, they can screw up...

Rarely see any red foxes in east central Alabama anymore unless they’re in a subdivision or on a golf course.

I’ve always theorized coyotes killed them all in the wild areas.

Thats a hog rubbing his head against that tree and its tusks are cutting it See this all over at the club property That’s what I thought too. Getting rid of valuables

Outback’s post made me think about this. What are some valuable things you’ve all sold you wish you hadn’t. I was just thinking about this 2 days ago. I traded a smith and Wesson 38 special for a cheap 380 auto and some cash. Was an old police issue gun that I paid over 500 dollars for. Traded a Tau...

Re: Bama

It’s so strange watching Bama now that the transfer portal and NIL are in place. I’m not saying saban isnt a great legendary coach , but he has had 19 of the best of 22 players on the field every play for all but maybe 5 games since 2009. With this portal and NIL the other team actually has a chance...

Re: Is it working?

It does not work. The deer are the same size , body weight , and score as they were 10, 20, 30 years ago. The only thing that’s changed is there are less deer everywhere from mobile to north of Huntsville. A bag limit can’t change the age structure or trophy potential. It’s stupid to think it can an...

Those trout are good to eat but seem hard to find at restaurants. You oughta go back down there in the fall when those triple tail are biting. My old boss has a house and boat down there and they catch the crap out of some big ones. He said that triple tail is the best eating fish you can catch down...

I know 3 guys that go spend a week in Indiana Turkey hunting every year , and from how quick they get a bird in the truck it must be loaded with turkeys. If I see a Jake this morning , it might get shot. We had a group of 8 jakes one year at our place in Oklahoma that seemed like they covered 4000 acres in a weekend. It was tough with them running all over the place. What’s crazy , is the next year there were hardly any gobblers on that piece of land.

Re: Aluminum slate call

I picked up a Persimmon Hill aluminum pot call locally. Has a carbon tipped striker, it’s loud. If you can find a hickory or plexi glass striker it will work a lot better on aluminum than carbon. Those carbon strikers Yelp way too loud for my liking. I’ve got some copper calls from Son Rise calls t...

Bullet choice for deer?

What do all of you think is the best brand and type of bullet for killing a deer. I’ve got buddies that shoot Barnes , Hornady SST , and acubond. They all kill deer , but the accubonds seem to be deadly based on deer I’ve helped them drag out. I’ve killed several deer with just about every type bull...

Re: Aluminum slate call

I’ve killed more birds with copper than slate or crystal. Aluminum can be way too loud if you don’t have the right striker, and it’s a picky metal. I’ve got a striker made out of plexi glass that works real good on any metal call. I wish I had 2 or 3 plexi glass strikers in different sizes because t...
