Took the plunge!!

Post by Marshmud991 »

Some already know but I jumped in this handloading adventure head first!! Done built me a way overbuilt bench with a set of shelves that I don’t think will be large enough. Got dies for most of the calibers I have and some for calibers I don’t have. Yet!! Loaded ammo for my 308, 6.5 Grendel, 7.62x39, 35 Whelen and the 25wssm. I’ve found a couple local gun store that keep a decent stock of powders. Also stocked up on large and small rifle primers. Also I’ve shot some of the best groups I’ve shot in my life. Factory ammo sucks!!

Welcome to the club! Being self sufficient and not having to hope WM has your ammo is priceless! I thought I was set for life with powder and components but picked up a new caliber and WHOA!!! IMR has lost their damn minds on powder pricing! I have enough to outlast me now so they'll not be getting any more of my money.
The older I get the more I understand why roosters just scream to start their day.

I wish I’d had started 20years ago. I found 2 local gun shops that carry powder. One is fairly reasonable and the other is way more. Of course he has a selection of the more popular powders that I read about. Varget was $70/lb. I wanted to try some but I’ll stick with the TAC in my 308 for now. Not sure how it could get any better. Nice tight groupsand excellent velocity. I try to buy Powders that I am use in multiple calibers. I need to research loads for 243 and 30-30 and grab available Powders for them.
