Turkey hunting is a desease!... I love it though!

Try to find someone who will take you under his wing and maybe even tag along to learn what to do, and what not to do!
Ask questions, read up on it, watch turkey shows and videos.
Dont call too much.
You will need a place that has turkeys.
And a lot of patience!
Good luck!

x2 on Patience. And like Pea Ridge said, don't start. I haven't been in years but I'm going to give it a go this year because my daughter wants to try it. I have a feeling I'm getting her involved in a serious addiction.

The best way to learn if you have no one to go with is trial and error..... You WILL make mistakes...so be prepared...... It takes experience to know what the birds want when it comes to calling.... Some like aggressive...some like subtle....some like none...... Every bird is different and you will have to figure that out on your on while the game is being played..... There is no one way to tell a guy how to do it....... You just gotta go and learn.....
Before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves...

What Tru Talker said. This is going to be my 4th year to hunt. It's took me 2 yrs to realize all the things I was doing wrong and remembered all the mistakes I made. I'm gonna be honest and tell you I read and talked to lots of guys on the other forum and put everything they told me in my "toolbox" and last year finally had the oppertunity at some turkeys. I shot at 3 birds, killed 2 and missed the 3rd. I misjudged the distance and got exited and shot prematurely. Lol. I than got cocky
And said there's nothing to this chit and the next trip,
The birds handed my arse to me and ran us into the ground. I still need to learn more patience as I did scare a couple silent birds. We are lucky as we seam to have a good number of birds and this helps the learning process and we don't pressure them to hard but they still kick our arses all over that place. I tell everybody I talk to that I have never had so much fun gettin an arse whippin.
