Managed some fish this morning, threw back 3 over 20 inches and 15-20 over 15”. These are all between 15-19 inches which is the slot on them here. Which re reading the law I could have kept one over the slot. But lm starting to learn this salt water a little more. I need a bigger boat is the first thing I learned. Fun morning none the less.
Anyone know what kind of fish that small one is. That’s beside the flounder? I think it’s some kind of snapper family but not sure. He got filleted either way.
Those trout are good to eat but seem hard to find at restaurants.
You oughta go back down there in the fall when those triple tail are biting. My old boss has a house and boat down there and they catch the crap out of some big ones. He said that triple tail is the best eating fish you can catch down there.
My last trip out on the gulf, we nearly sunk a 38ft sport fisher.
That was my last, last trip. I love seafood but I'm happy to buy it. Won't be no more off shore fishing for me. That boat had to be dry docked for 3 months to make repairs. By the time we made it to dauphin Island port we was using buckets to bail water.
Still got a picture somewhere of my brother in law and me with 109 lying in the bottom of the boat. We caught them all on one small pipe sticking up from a capped off oil well I assume. We were south of lake Charles can’t remember the name of the town. That was before limits were placed in them in the 90,s I believe.
