Alabama Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Division:

Our Fisheries Biologists recently completed spring sampling at Holt Reservoir and results revealed that Largemouth Bass are more abundant and bigger than in previous years. While Holt is typically not known by anglers as a destination lake for bass fishing, Largemouth Bass over 5 pounds were present at 9 out of the 10 randomly selected sites. The four fish pictured weighed between 6.0 – 8.5 lbs. Catch rates of age-1 and age-2 Largemouth Bass were also well above average. Gizzard shad were extremely abundant, especially in the lower end of the lake. With plenty of naturally produced young bass and an abundance of forage, Holt should continue to offer great fishing for several years.

Yep that's it. It's in Tuscaloosa county. You can access it from a couple ramps on the Brookwood, AL side or you can put in at Deerlick campground, Old Lock 15, or Blue Creek on the other side. It's a hidden gem for bass fishing. Bankhead Lake is the next lake north of this one and they have even better bass fishing up there

Is Holt amd Bankhead dammed up or just separated on the river by boundaries?

There's a dam between them. Holt Lake is between Bankhead Lake and Oliver Lake. Separated by dams

Me and my dad went this morning and wore them out. We were catching 1-2 pounders the whole morning. Didn't catch any big ones today but I'm going back tomorrow

I don't trust WLAFF to put accurate information on anything. I'm sure there's some more money they figure to make.
