swivels on crappie rigs

Post by stackem »

When i was offshore fishing alot we would tie up several bottom rigs b/4 each trip so when you break off just reach in the bag and grab another and you are in business. Was thinking about doing the same with some crappie trolling rigs and adding a small swivel so it would be ready to tie on if you break off. Do you think a small swivel a foot or so above the top jig would affect the way the fish bite.

I like to use loop to loop leader connections for quick jig change or break-offs when fishing for crappie or bluegill/bream. But to answer your question I think u got a great idea, rig some up with a swivel and try it out!

I like to run 8-12lb mainline with 4-6lb leaders

I think either will work. I like BCLC's option. I don't like having a swivel but do occasionally and doesn't seem to effect the fish much.
